My journey : From crawling to crutches part 4
After some month my left leg becomes fine and now it was turn of my right leg. My right leg's operation was little complicated. Its just because my right leg's feet was bent towards inside and that was the biggest problem. My father arranged the money and meet our doctor for further discussion. Once again hearing about operation i was filled with fear. After discussion with the doctor my father called the hospital for next appointment. Then my father booked the ticket for the journey and took me to Chennai for my next operation. When i visited the hospital the nurses recognize me and stared trolling me. After doing all the formalities i was admitted. The assistant doctors started my testing and after three days they said that each report is normal. This time i was less frightened as i was known to the fact that if i will cry still i will be operated so this time i kept my nerves calm. This time no old patients whom i meet earlier were there. The new patients were too elder to me. But i remember one of my fellow patient. She was in critical condition and she was even not able to move her fingers. She was alive only on liquid foods which were given to her through her nose. First time i saw such a condition so i asked my father what has happened to her? He said nothing she is just unconscious and will be fine in a few days. I remember one day before my operation my father went out to buy fruits and that day she was unable to take the liquid food and vomits out what was given to her. Her mother started crying and seeing her crying i also started crying. The doctors comes and look into the matter and gives her some injections and then she becomes normal. But i was still crying so everyone there was trying to console me but i was asking for my father. Next day I was taken to operation theater . This time I was less scared after seeing the equipment there. This time the nurse said me to count 1 to 10 I started counting and I don't when I become unconscious. My right legs operation was going to take more time as compare to my left leg because firstly they have to do operation and second they have to put ring in my right feet. I would like to inform that ring is a very painful thing. In this the doctor put steel bar through the bones from one side to other side and are connected to a circular structure. My operation and putting ring in my left leg took around 5 hours. When I wake up I found my father in front of me and I said him that this time the doctor had tighten the plaster and he said yes. I was taken to my bed and in the evening when I wake up after looking the ring I started crying. The nurses comes fast and asked me why you are crying as my father was not there. I was there in the hospital for 1 month. After 1 month my father asked the doctor to discharge me as the bill of the hospital was increasing and my operation has dried. So next day the assistant doctor comes to examine the operation and said that its ok the operation has recovered so lets cut the stitches. So he asked the nurses to arrange equipment. They covered me with curtains and started cutting the stitches and I started crying. Hearing me crying mother of the patient next to also started crying. After one day the doctor discharged me. The patient next to me was from Pondicherry and they know Hindi so aunty said to my father that she wants to prepare some food for me for the journey as the doctor has suggested me to avoid outside food. On the day of my discharge aunty gives me some fruits and homemade foods. She kissed me on my cheek and said you will be fine very soon son. After getting discharged from hospital my father took me to the railway station. My father was advised to take extra care of the ring and everyday the ring nut boult has to be tighten slowly slowly. The ring was really causing me too much pain and I have to carry the ring for next 6 months. Finally at 9 pm the train arrived and we get inside the train. After 38 hours we reached Ranchi and one hour later finally home.

My journey: From crawling to crutches Part 3
After that we become good friends and her mother take care of me like his own son. The doctor recommended my father to stay in the hospital for three months. But my father said that he can only afford one month of hospital expenses. So doctor agreed and said OK stay here for one month then i will see the condition and discharge your son. That was first time in my life i meet too many handicap boys and girls who were having even more critical problem as compare to me. I started talking to everyone and become friend. We talk to each other about our home and some imaginary stories and many things like SHAKTIMAN, CHANDRAKANTA,MOGLI, UNCLE SCROZE and ALIF LAILA ect. This was only mode of entertainment for us because none of us was allowed for any physical activity. Some time our parents went out of hospital to bring us fruits, toys, balloon and snacks. During my one month stay i was having lots of fun with them. One more thing i use to do was press the button to call the nurseπππππππππππ. Many nurses use to came to me and talk to me because my mother was not there with me and when my father went out they take care of me like their own family member. Most of the nurses whenever visit my ward they come to me once and talk to me and they always try to troll me because i was to shy. I remember one of the nurse but not her name she was from Kerala and she was too Beautiful. She always comes to me and always say will you marry me and i always hide my face below the pillow. One thing i must say all the nurses there were so kind and gentle and most important very sensitive. After one month the doctor examine me and said that my stitches will be cut next day and after that they will guide what to do. The next day they came with full preparation. Firstly they covered my bed from all side and said my father to go away. When my father was going i started crying. When they started cutting my stitches i started crying more loudly. One nurse was trying to control me but i keep crying. After half an hour my 20 stitches were cut. The doctor smiled at me after cutting the stitches and said you are a brave boy and still crying. When my stitches were getting cut the girl next to me was also crying after hearing me. After some time her mother put her near me and she asked Dada it was paining you? I said yes. Then my father bring me some snacks to eat so that i forget everything. Three days later the doctor discharged me and i was happy that i am going to home but that Bengali girl and her mother and a boy and her mother were not happy. That girl sadly asked me Dada why are you going? The boy don't know Hindi but he was asking me the same in Tamil language. On that day the boys mother bring some food for us for the the journey and gave me 500 rupees. And that Bengali aunt hugged me kissed me and said take care. I was also not feeling good. My father said goodbye to them and taking me on the wheelchair came out of the hospital. From there we took auto to Peramboor. It was very difficult for my father to carry me and luggage together. So he firstly keep me on the bench and after that the luggage. This was operation of my left leg and after that right leg's turn. At the station we have some food and at 9 pm we get inside the train.

My journey: From crawling to crutches. part 2

Here my journey started from crawling to walking with crutches. After getting all the information from colleague my father started planning to visit the doctor in Chennai. My father was a government employee but in 1994 his salary was not sufficient enough to plan the journey so he get some money from his friends and borrow some money from EPF. Without any appointment my father took me to the doctor so it becomes little difficult for us to meet the doctor. And second problem was the language as my father only knows Hindi so he was facing problem while communicating with the local peoples. But as we know god is always there to help us so my father finds a person among them who was able to understand my father and translating everything to my father. Finally we meet Dr. R Gopal Krishnan. The doctor examined my legs and said that i will make sure that he will be able to walk on his own legs. After hearing these words from the doctor my father becomes so happy that he was unable to express his happiness. He simply said Sir tell me when i should come here for the treatment of my son. Doctor said just go and visit my secretory she will give you all the information. My father meets Mrs Lata the secretory of the doctor and get all the information regarding the doctor's fee, hospital charges and other expenses. After getting all the information my father took me and leave the hospital happily with the next appointment to visit the doctor. I remember both of us were not eaten anything since morning. So my father took me to a bench and said just look at the belongings i am going to bring some food for us. But he was unable to find any food so he brings 2 dozen of banana and said have this there is nothing outside. We ate that and took a local train from Chennai central to Peramboor. It was 5:30 pm at peramboor my father went out to find some food and reminding me the belongings. He finds some food and bring that and finally we were having some food. During all these process we don't realize that we are having shortage of money. My father took out all the money and counted that was only rs 400. Now my father started worrying about the ticket and so long journey of around 48 hours. So he decided to get in the train without ticket and talk to the TTE for ticket and seat. Around 9 pm we get inside the train and sit on a vacant seat. After some time the TTE comes and asked for ticket my father said that i am having only rs 400 so its all up to you either fine or leave me because i have to travel a long journey of around 48 hours and during this journey i have to feed my son. So now whatever your decision will be i will obey it. The TTE was a kind person he just took rs 150 from my father and gives us a seat for the journey and went away. The follow passengers were also kind and gentle persons. They helped us during the whole journey and we reached our home. πΊπΊπΊπΊπΊπΊπΊπΊπΊπΊπΊπΊπΊπΊπΊπΊπΊπΊπΊπΊ

My journey: From crawling to crutches
Today is my first day of starting blogging and i will try my best to express my feeling and experience till now. I was born in 1989 in a lower middle family and i am handicap by birth. As my mother use to say that before my birth my great grandfather has predicted that the child is going to born handicap. My birth place is Bihar where any parent after hearing that their baby will be going to be handicap starts fighting that its your mistake and blame each other. But in my case it was different just because my father was a government employee and i was the only son child. So after my birth my parents want to start my treatment. For the first time i was taken to vellore CMC and my treatment started. At that time i was just 2 year old and i am saying all these only because my mother has told me all these things . After treating me for six months the doctor called my father and said lets cut down his both lower limbs up to knee and when he will become 12-13 year old just get him artificial limbs and he will be able to walk. After hearing doctors words my mother started weeping and my father also. My father said the doctor no let him as he is and later i will see what i can do. In CMC my both legs were operated twice and for that my father has given me 2 units of blood. After treatment in CMC my parents took me back and started their normal life.
